CEA Names Graduate Student Excellence Award Recipients The College of Engineering and Architecture has named the first recipients of its Graduate Student Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments by graduate students in the College. The selection criteria included a strong record of professional recognition, professional development, scholarly productivity, interdisciplinary research, and outreach during their graduate studies. The student award recipients are Yan Wan, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Luz Daniela Bermudez-Aguirre, Department of Biological Systems Engineering; Jeremy Avise, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Huanchun Cui, School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. “We’re pleased to be able to offer this award to recognize the outstanding work that these graduate students are doing,’’ says Grant Norton, associate dean for research and graduate programs for the College of Engineering and Architecture. “These are the young men and women who are going to be taking leadership roles in addressing grand challenges of the 21st century. I look forward to watching them as they go on to productive and successful careers in their fields.’’ Each award recipient will receive $5,000, which is made possible by the Alfred Suksdorf Memorial Fund and the Harold P. Curtis Scholarship Fund. |
