Global Opportunities

Below are some opportunities for foreign studies in the College of Engineering and Architecture:

• Foreign Language Fluency Track. To encourage the attainment of fluency in a foreign language, students who have completed both the second year of a foreign language (e.g., Span 203 and 204) and an approved study abroad program in the same language may substitute 6 hours of study abroad credit for 3 hours of Arts and Humanities and 3 hours of Intercultural Studies general education credit. Students majoring in foreign languages are not eligible. See the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures or International Programs for details.
• Certificate in Asian Studies College of Engineering and Architecture Majors. The purpose of the certificate program is to offer majors of the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) a structured opportunity to incorporate a significant component of East Asian studies into their curriculum.  The increasing incorporation of East Asia into global trade networks, and the increasing interdependence of the economies of the United States (and Pacific Northwest, particularly) and East Asia are compelling reasons to promote curricular choices that will enhance the preparation and competitiveness of CEA graduates. 
• WSU Education Abroad Options in Engineering

• WSU Education Abroad Options in Architecture, Construction Management, and Interior Design

Being away from WSU on an education abroad program can be an enriching part of your academic career. Groups of students can choose to participate in a Washington State University international program, another international program with which WSU has a relationship, or even design their own study abroad experience. Careful planning is a very important part of this experience, and scholarship opportunities are available.

Washington State University students who choose to travel abroad as part of their education work with the university’s International Programs office. Look for education abroad informational meetings during the semester or visit the International Programs Office, Education Abroad Section, in Bryan Hall 108, to talk with an Education Abroad Advisor.
